realized how totally phony it all was.
Working in the community health sector and in particular with the hepatitis C community gives me the satisfaction of knowing the work I do is of benefit to humanity and that it contributes to improving the health of people with hepatitis C.
Why do you think hepatitis C is something that people out there need to be aware of?
Hepatitis C is often poorly understood by the general public and is sometimes confused with other forms of hepatitis and even HIV and that scares people unnecessarily.
Also, as far as the IV drug connection goes, many people may have contracted the virus years ago during their youth and are now middle aged or older with quite different lifestyles. I think others need to be aware of this before they judge people too harshly.
If you could say just one thing to someone with hepatitis C, what would it be?
If you’re worried about a cure, I would say hang in there. Treatment results are quite good at the moment but medical research is getting closer to finding real cures for a lot of viral infections. It’s just a matter of time.
What are you having for dinner tonight?
I am going out to a restaurant tonight, so who knows? But if I was to be at home my partner would whip up a nice Butter Chicken or Larb Gai (Thai Chicken Salad). Yum! Yum! |
