Body Art
The Body Art Program aims to raise awareness of the potential
for hepatitis C transmission to occur through body art (tattooing
and body piercing) and other skin penetration practices.
Originally developed in 2003, the project focused on body art practitioners, their clients, young people, educational strategies, and local government environmental health officers.
From the results of this work Hepatitis C Victoria has produced a highly-regarded educators kit specifically for use in Victorian secondary schools. A3 posters - one on tattooing and one on piercing were produced and are available from Hepatitis C Victoria (use the resource order form).
Resources are now available:
Secondary schools educators' kit. Hard copies of these are also available by contacting Hepatitis C Victoria.
Fact sheets for secondary students covering hepatitis C, HIV and possible body art risks.
A youth focussed information kit.
What is This Hep C Thing? An interactive CD teaching resource for secondary schools teachers and students. Available by contacting Hepatis C Victoria or the Education and Resource Centre at the Alfred
